Hey, I'm Ben, Design Lead for AI Incubation at IBM, based in London.I turn frontier AI research into products people actually use: computer-using agents, vibe-coding platforms, LLM observability tools, and generative assistants deployed to millions of users.

I got here through an unusual path. I studied Fine Art at Southampton, then completed an MFA at the Ruskin School of Art at Oxford on the Erna Plachte Scholarship. That led to strategy and design roles at advertising agencies, then to Grandeo Labs, where I was Founding Product Designer for a blockchain and ML startup that was later acquired by Binarii Labs.

I joined IBM in 2021 and have spent the last four years designing AI products of increasing complexity and scale: from NatWest's Cora+ (11M+ users, one of the first safe deployments of generative AI in UK banking) to a £400m UK Government digital transformation programme to the agentic systems and vibe-coding tools I'm building now.

I've worked on hundreds of AI projects and prototypes.I'm passionate about AI Safety and am a forthcoming Fellow at the Oxford AI Safety Initiative (OAISI) and currently studying AGI Strategy at BlueDot Impact. I care about how we build AI that's safe, useful, and well-designed, and I think those three things are more connected than most people assume.Outside of work, I'm writing a novel and working on a new album. I write essays on AI history and philosophy at World Make, my Substack, and produce electronic music with hardware synthesisers. A few releases are on vinyl and Spotify.
