Hey, I’m Ben. I turn frontier AI research into products people can actually use. Currently Design Lead for AI Incubation, shipping at startup speed inside IBM. Before this, I led design across hundreds of generative AI projects at IBM Client Engineering (the ones I'm proudest of: NatWest's Cora+ and a £400M UK Government programme), and before that I was Founding Product Designer at Grandeo Labs, a ML startup later acquired. What I Work on

I work across the full stack of AI product design, research and development: from prototyping in code and designing agent supervision systems to shipping generative tools at enterprise scale. These are the problems I find most exciting, and the projects that shaped how I think about them.

Creative Research & Lab

Outside product work, I'm drawn to research as a way to find new questions, build new things, develop ideas, grow skills, and as a creative practice in its own right. I'm interested in the idea of research as a leisure activity, but also as a way to evolve how you think.

On weekends I'm as likely to be rebuilding Gemmascope, or patching a Moog Modular.

  • Orchestra World, 2026

    Orchestra World explores ‘creative’ multi-agent collaboration and tooling. Each agent gets a rehearsal room with training data and limited tool access, while a shared space lets them collaborate and ‘play’ together. The research project evaluates their learning trajectories and emerging skills (specialism of an instrument or tool).

    Agent Town, 2026

    Agent Town is a continuously-running multi-agent simulation where autonomous AI agents form societies, governing, trade, and economies. It explores what emerges at long horizons, and how agents form coalitions, drift, and collaborate in a simulated world.

    Experiments with Project Genie, DeepMind 2026

    Exploring infinite world generation for game design, agents in virtual environments and using Genie 3 for exploration in open-worlds.

    Mini Scope, 2026

    MiniScope was the first research prototype exploring how interpretability should work for embodied AI agents in foundation world models. This research study looked to make bias and agent behavioural divergence understandable at the exact step they emerge.

    Countryside World Model, 2025

    Fine-tuned a 380M-param diffusion world model and taught it to render countryside fields from a custom dataset collected in 2019 (hosted on Hugging Face). Ran 20 epochs at ~3.5 sec/step on MPS. The Kent transformation is mostly learned by epoch 5. Epochs 5 → 20 brought some smoothness and confidence but no dramatic visual change.

    Neurolab, 2025

    A tracing and observability tool for LLM applications designed for enterprise developers. Helps debug complex agent workflows including multi-agent systems, tool calls, and recovery loops.
